The book department of the University Store offers trade books, newspapers, magazines, an assortment of W&L music,
DVDs and BluRay; coordinates book signings for faculty members and visiting speakers; and manages course materials for both the undergraduate and law schools.
On campus departments and W&L alums enjoy a 10% discount on all trade books! (In-store only).
Departments and student organizations ordering 24 or more of the same trade book receive a 20% discount.

Online Adoption Center
in a succinct, step-by-step process.
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to create a login and password when you go to this site for the first time.
You may use your W&L network username and password to help you remember it, but this system does not authenticate through the network.
Most publishers will issue a complimentary desk copy to instructors who use the book for their classes. These copies can be obtained directly from publishers or from their local sales representatives.
Publishers will NOT send these desk copies to the University Store, nor will they accept requests from bookstores. You should request your desk copy from the publisher at least a month before classes begin to ensure you have it
BUNDLES AND LOOSE LEAF COURSE MATERIALS
Bundling supplementary items with textbooks is offered by most publishers and can be a good way to be sure every student buys what is needed, usually at a cost
savings to the student. However, bundled materials are only a value to the students if the pieces are going to be used in your courses.
Requiring students to purchase bundles generally means the TEXTBOOKS MUST BE NEW and, at the end of the term, the University Store is often unable to accept the
materials for buyback. Some professors have addressed this by making the supplemental materials an optional purchase.
Many publishers now offer loose-leaf textbooks at a lower retail price than hardbound or paperback books. While these appear to be a "good deal" for students at first glance,
please be aware that loose-leaf textbooks will have absolutely no buyback value at the end of the semester. The least expensive way for a student to purchase a textbook (net cost) is usually
to purchase a used copy and sell it back at the end of the semester. If a faculty member lets us know they will use the book again on campus in a future term, at buyback we can offer
your students as much as 50% of the new price of the book, regardless of where it was purchased.
BUYBACK—ON CAMPUS AND ONLINE
While textbook buybacks have always drawn attention for their "pennies-on-the-dollar" payments, we have succeeded in raising the buyback value offered for many of the
textbooks used by our professors. When a faculty member lets us know they will use a book again on campus in a future term, we offer students as much as 50%
of the new price of the book, regardless of where it was purchased (quantities limited only by the expected enrollment of the future course). In recent buybacks, this
has allowed the University Store to put an average of $235,000 back in the hands of our students using our Buyback Voucher System (login required). Students also have the option to
sell books back online year-round (when buyback is not in progress on campus).

and is designed to help you make informed decisions about your course materials adoptions. When you register you will receive an ID and password for a
complimentary account. After logging in, you can research books through a series of advanced search features. Also includes links to publisher Web sites,
book popularity rankings by subject, and information about desk copies.
